Shopify API Change Notice - Asset timestamps

James MacAulay

Notices like this are published to keep Shopify app developers informed about current or upcoming changes to our API. Unless you are a developer working with our API, you can safely ignore this post.

The following changes will be made to the Asset API, effective Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 12:01am UTC

  • <created_at>
  • <updated_at>

attributes of the Asset resource are being renamed to use hyphens instead of underscores

  • <created-at>
  • <updated-at>

This will bring them in line with the attribute names on other resources. Those newly-renamed timestamps on the Asset resource are getting a slightly different formatting, also to bring them in line with the other resources. With the current formatting, a timestamp on an asset looks like

2010-07-12 15:31:50 -0400
With the new formatting, the same timestamp will show as
2010-07-12T15:31:50-04:00
If you are making use of the timestamps in the Asset API, then to accommodate these changes we suggest that you update your code to work with both old and new versions of those attributes. If you access the API through our ruby client library, you shouldn't have to do anything because Active Resource is flexible enough to handle it already.
